Mastering in the UK | Postgraduate Study in the UK

Studying a master's degree in the UK is a great opportunity for direct contact with the business world and career advancement. Universities in the UK offer more than 50,000 master's programs of very high quality to international students with validity worldwide. These programs, which can be completed in one year, are the first choice of students who want to study abroad and in English.

A master's in the UK takes 1 year full time and 2 years part time in most departments. It consists of 9 months of practice + 3 months of thesis. You are expected to submit your thesis, which is 10-20 thousand words long, in the summer of the lectures, or at a later date. Master's degree is taken after exams and master's thesis are evaluated.

Master programs generally provide education in a system where active participation of the small number of students in the class is expected. It is very important to work in groups, to prepare projects and to share your knowledge with other students by making presentations in the English education system and especially at the graduate level.

The most common academic titles at master's level are: MA (Master of Arts), MSc (Master of Science), MMus (Master of Music) and LLM (Master of Laws).

In addition to the Taught Master, there is also a Research Master, a research master option. Instead of taking classes, students prepare a thesis of 30-40 thousand words by doing research on their own under the supervision of an instructor. As a result, the title earned is called MRes (Master of Research).

The most difficult of the graduate programs is MPhil (Master of Philosophy). This program, which is mistaken by those who do not know about it as a master of philosophy, requires a full-time 2-year education in any subject. Students who successfully complete this program can choose to continue their education to obtain the title of PhD (Doctor of Philosopy), which is mostly known as a PhD in Turkish. And with it, they can be Phd graduates in 3 years.

In order to participate in any master program in the UK, your English must be at a proficiency or advanced level. In addition, documents such as a good average of diploma grade and, if possible, other educational documents - certificates that may be related to the field you applied for are required.

If your other criteria meet, but you do not think your English is sufficient, or your graduation GPA is not sufficient, or you have other missing points, it would be best for you to apply to a pre-master program. You can also consider the Pre-Master program as an alternative to raise your current academic standing and to be accepted by better programs.
